Alexandra Roberts

I Alexandra Roberts am a witness to what happened on my birthday. Around 10:00

11:00 a group of people wanted to enter my party they were about the age of 18 21 and they were not allowed in for my friends safety. As they had a large amount of alcohol and it was a none alcoholic party they were asked several times nicely to please leave as it was only a 15 year old party they did not care and wanted to come in they started to try get other people from inside my party that they did not know to get them in but they were rejected every time, they still could not get in so they started shouting and swearing to try force there way in this still did not work so they started throwing bottles and rocks and anything else they could find like poles while so still swearing and going off. Every one from my party had to stay inside as it was not safe for them, broken bottles were all over the floor and they will still been thrown it was getting way out of hand and a large rock was thrown and hit Sam in the forehead there was lots of blood and he had to grab a baseball bat and run down the street to try scare them away so none of my friends got hurt, if Sam did not do this my party would have ended with a bigger matter and many more injuries and probably quite serious ones.

Sam did what he had to do to make sure my friends were safe he did not cause anything as it was the drunk 18 to 21 year olds that wanted to make things worse and start fights as they were shouting “Bring It On.”

Jamie Marks

I, Jamie Marks, am writing this statement in regard to an incident, which occurred on 13th June 2009, at No.5, Roxburgh Ave, Lonsdale.

On this evening I was chaperoning a 15** birthday party for my friends daughter, which involved working on the site to keep out uninvited guests and the like.

As the evening progressed, more and more people were turned away and formed a group of about 40-50, congregating in a dark area on the corner of the block. People then started to yell abuse, which progressed to the throwing of bottles and rocks, one of which struck my fellow chaperone, Sam Lakin in the forehead, having only just missed the Birthday girl’s mother.

The situation escalated and I saw Sam running toward the troublemakers, but I stayed at the site so no-one could gate crash in my absence.

I then lost sight of Sam but could hear a lot of yelling from the troublemakers, followed by the squealing of tyres and people in cars driving erratically up Roxburgh Ave.

I then saw Sam further up Roxburgh Ave and saw cars swerving towards him, followed by the sound of glass smashing, and ran to try and help.

Despite my best efforts, by the time I got there Sam was nearly back at the party and the crowd had dispersed.

After this, the police arrived and spoke to Sam before taking him away in the Police car.

If I were a parent with a child there, I would be pleased that someone took affirmative action before one of the party guests got struck. It seemed very harsh that Sam got 7 stitches, then arrested, when he was only protecting the invited guests from the uninvited troublemakers, who started it all.
